starting seeds

both of these plants were given to matt and i... from people we were giving stuff away to on craigslist. awesome!

i feel like it's appropriate to start our blog with a post about seed starting.

last week at urban ore, i spotted a narrow metal table that i knew would be perfect in my craft studio. matt and i knew that we'd need to start our seedlings (which i purchased from baker creek heirloom) relatively soon, so this table was a jumpstart to our project.

after getting the table in the back of the subaru, we headed over to home depot and bought two CFL grow lights, two shop lights, two plastic trays and seed starting mix. (total cost = $76 without the seeds, $96 with the seeds)

the first to begin? onions, spinach, and european mesclun salad mix. i'm going to plant these after we go to disneyland this weekend! i have a photobooth picture from disneyland that i took with my friend sara on the pegboard, along with the silhouette i got of myself from my last disneyland trip. one year ago this weekend!!

matt and i wanted to start this blog in order to collaborate + brainstorm about all the neat things in our daily trials. if both of us contribute to a single post, you'll see our writings / comments in different colors. we hope you enjoy! and seriously, comment. we'll come to your blog and comment, too. promise.
